National Banking Institute (NBI) is holding Asian Pacific Association of Banking Institutes (APABI) Conference for the very first time in Nepal. APABI, founded in 1986, is an international conglomeration of banking Academia of over 30 countries of Asia and Pacific region. As a chairperson of APABI for 2016 and 2017, NBI is hosting APABI Conference from 22-23 September 2016 in Kathmandu.
The theme of this international conference is "Best Practices in Banking & Financial Industry's Talent Development in Asia-Pacific". The chairmen and CEOs of banking academia of member countries and foreign experts from the banking industries are expected to participate in large number. The Nepalese bankers from the top management level have expressed their interest to participate in the conference.
Dr. Chiranjibi Nepal, the Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank is expected to inaugurate the event. The event will be followed by captivating presentations of highly experienced and seasoned bankers Mr. Ram Kumar, former Executive Director of ICICI Bank and Dr. Anil K. Khandelwal, Chairman of Khandelwal Committee and former MD of Bank of Baroda.
The program will also have a panel discussion wherein executives of Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, India and Pakistan will be leading the discussions. The CEO of Asian Institute Chartered Banker, Malaysia, Ms. Ong Puay See, the CEO of The Institute of Banking & Finance, Singapore, Ms. Carrie Leung, the CEO of The Hong Kong Institute of Bankers, Dr. JN Mishra, CEO of Indian Institute of Banking & Finance, Mr. Faisal Hussain, Director of Institute of Bankers Pakistan and Mr. Mohiuddin Siddique, Director of Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management will shed light on the banking theme.
In addition, a panel discussion led by CEOs of Nepalese banks will discuss & deliberate on local challenges and opportunities in talent development.
Delegates from Korea, Hong Kong, Pakistan, The Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia, Bhutan, Indian, Egypt, UAE, Cambodia, Mongolia, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Thailand, Afghanistan and Maldives have already confirmed their participation.
The event will be an opportunity for the Nepalese bankers to acquaint with best international banking practices in the talent development which could lead to new innovation in the banking sector of the country.
