National Banking Institute Limited (NBI) is the apex-level banking and finance academy of Nepal, established with the vision of enhancing the capacity, professionalism, and governance standards of the country’s financial sector. Apart from Nepal Rastra Bank (the central bank), NBI’s promoters include banks and financial institutions (BFIs) representing all categories—commercial banks, development banks, finance companies, and microfinance institutions. NBI stands as a true reflection of inclusiveness and the collective strength of the entire financial system of Nepal.

NBI invites applications from highly motivated, dynamic, visionary, and competent individual for the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) on a contract basis to lead the Institute and drive its strategic growth.

Key Responsibilities & Terms of Reference

The CEO shall be accountable to the Board of Directors for the overall management, performance, and strategic direction of the Institute. Key responsibilities include:

  • Strategic Leadership: Provide visionary leadership to NBI and implement Board-approved policies and strategies within the framework of NBI’s procedures, the Company Act, the Article & Memorandum of Association, and other prevailing laws.
  • Operations & Financial Management: Prepare and submit annual budgets and business plans for Board approval; oversee academic, administrative, and financial operations; and ensure effective execution to meet performance targets.
  • Governance & Compliance: Ensure strict regulatory compliance and high standards of good governance; mitigate risks by maintaining robust internal control mechanisms.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Strengthen relationships and engagement with BFIs, regulators, and national/international partners, representing NBI at various professional forums.
  • Team Leadership: Foster high employee morale, motivate staff, empower teams, and delegate authority in a constructive and accountable manner.
  • Reporting: Submit comprehensive institutional performance reports to the Board on a monthly basis.

 

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Master’s Degree in Economics, Management, Banking, Finance or related fields.
  • Overall Experience: Minimum of 15 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in financial sector.
  • Leadership Experience: At least 10 years of experience serving in senior management position.

Age criteria: Not exceeding 60 years as of the application deadline.
